BMW INPA fails to calibrate steering angle sensor (fixed)

Some BMW INPA K+DCAN OBD2cable holders reported that when trying to calibrate LWS for BMW, the INPA software reports an error message and fails to reset steering angle sensor.

Error message:

"Calibration steering angle only with steering wheel balancer!!”

Model tested example: BMW 3 series E46 320D 2005

Possible reason:

BMW INPA will not re-calibrate steering angle sensor at least on this model.

Solution:

You need to reset steering angle sensor with DIS (which is out of production in obd365.com) or EDIABAS Tool32 software (available  BMW ICOM Rheingold ISTA-D ISTA-Psoftware or EDIABAS OBD& ADS interface).

Calibrating/resetting BMW steering angle sensor with EDIABAS Tool32:

Well loaded Toolset 32 /Tool32 software

Well connected EDIABAS ADS interface or BMW ICOM A2+B+C diagnostic tool emulator with vehicle

Start launching Toolset 32 /Tool32:

bmw-inpa-EDIABAS-Tool32-1

bmw-inpa-EDIABAS-Tool32-2

Select "Load SGBD Group file”

Find your DSC module and click "open”, for example, a E90 2005 320D it is DSC_87.prg)

Drop down the "Jobs” list and find out "lenkwinkel dsc abgleichen” option, ignition on and double click the option. Wait for about 10 seconds until the job is finished.

The steering Angle is calibrated and VIN is matched to car.
