Nissan PCM Programming with Godiag GT100 & Consult on Bench

One customer got a2016 Nissan Roguethatneeds a PCM, unfortunately hegot a used PCM, because there are no new ones available and the farther away new ones he could find are over 210 hundred dollars. I might have quoted all that wrong I don’t know, I remember there were a ton of money he said the only one he could get and wait on was a ton of money so he got a used PCM attempted to program it.He can’t get the keys to finish and the VIN won’t change, he tried every tool he’s got.Everything from nerves to Autels to Launches all kinds of stuff couldn’t get it to go well,this is actually a pretty common problem, because starting in 2013 most of the Nissans that are 20-digit rolling code which started with the altima and by I think 2014 or 2015 the rogue and a bunch of others.They basically became a one-time vin right, not even console will work and we’re actually gonna attempt it with console, but just to show you but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to go, so we need to do two things: one the calibration in this PCM is incorrect, so it’s actually for a California emissions vehicle is what the actual vehicle is but the one that’s got is just a North America 50 state legal, I believe there’s a transmission difference, the one he’s got is off of a 17 but the hardware is correct.

So we do have to change the software and we have to do the vin, so we’re going to go through the VIN first, which is actually very simple, it just takes some tooling and equipment, and then doing the calibration changes significantly more involved because neither of these things can you do with the Nissan scan tool or even do them out of the box with almost anything else, we’re gonna do quite a bit of editing. So to squash a bunch of questions right off the BAT, it’s what am I using well this isGodiag GT100 breakout boxand a bench flashing unit, so it’s got a cable that outputs a bunch of b plus ignition switch ground can line all that stuff connected to the breakout box.

So it allows us to use this harness to connect to the PCM to boot on the bench, now, it also comes with OBD2 cable coming out of it, so we can hook our Nissan scan tool which we’re using the console VI here and then it gives you an additional plug-in on this end to plug into the vehicle side, now you could just not use this harness that connects to the PCM and not plug it into the all and power up the unit and just plug this into the PCM.
Or this end into the car and this end into your scan tool and have a breakout box you could scope each of the pins on the D L C, so that’s two tools in one really

So we’re using that and then to do the vin change.This PCM so we can talk to the computer and do the flash and then we’re going to use the mini Pro eeprom tool, one of my favorite prom tools. So basically the first thing we had to do was identify which eeprom on the circuit board is the one that houses the vin, the SOIC8 small chip connectors quite a few connection types that come with the mini Pro so we’ll go ahead and what we’re gonna do is actually take a look at this hooked up to Consult VI (original not aConsult 3 plus clone), we’re going to attempt to change the vin number with Consult just to show you guys what’s going on.

Click "start”, go ahead andcopy this onto our clipboardso you can see the vin numbers incorrect right, this is actually for a 2017 model, so we’re gonna go ahead and paste that in there and this is where you would normally just click "start "and it says the operation stop due to the following test conditions, he tried with tons of tools, it’s just it’s not going to work,so this is the incorrect vin number in consult VI, and this is the correct vin number in the notepad.

So, here’s how we’re going to fix this.
Okay, we got that saved on our desktop, so that way we have a backup of this Bin file, now if we pull up some data here, we can see this is our correct vin and we see this is a VIN number, that’s in here, so we’re gonna go ahead and change that.

Alright and in this particular S25832, the vin is only stored in one location in it so we’re actually going to go ahead and write this.
Again make sure that you had the original backed up so we’re gonna click program andit says program successful.

And we’re going to turn onGodiag GT100breakout box.
Our unit back on to boot, this backup.

Let’s switch back over to the scan tool here alright we got some so we did get the message and exit off of that.

Go back over to "Work support”, go to vin registration, click "start”.

And look at that JN8AT2MV7GW152995, so as the correct VIN.

Our next problem is that this has the wrong flash, so it has the 7fp3 Charlie it needs to be 6fk3 bravo.

And basically this is what it’s saying, so we’re going to click on "save” to save this operation that this is the vin number, we’re doing reprogramming for the engine module, it’s currently got this part number, this is the vehicle, this is the VIN, this is the time and date will click "save”.

We’re going to make sure we carefully read all the instructions, click "next”.

And it’s going to say hey, your current part number is a 237107FP3C and we’re going to turn it into a 21710 6FK3B, look at that that’s correct. It’s for a Rogue T32 chassis with this vin number for the engine, and this is the other information on this, the T3216_L1_Auto_Flash,it’s going to take about ten minutes.

So we edited that there we edited it to this that it’s got this current part number and it’s going to this one, this would not have happened if we did not edit that csv when we went to go do this, if we had the file, it would have been that 6fk8 Alpha or whatever it said on the Nissan Tech info website but that’s not the case, we made our edits so we’re able to flash this wrong file to the correct file, even though these are not compatible vehicles.

So go ahead and click "next” it’s going to check fora network connectionand I’m going to have to log into tweedle here.
Once the twitter login comes up. Go and select your market.
And then what it’s doing here in the first bar is transferring the flash file from the PC to the Consult VI over here.

Alright so it says the reprogramming is complete, so we’re going to press next.

It’s going to just do a system cal Performing,and it may have us do a few other things.
Go back to diagnosis of one system, go back to engine.
Tell us some are not detected, we know that.
Logs in, it’s got a bunch of codes, we know that.
A couple things we’ll go over to our work support.
Make sure we have our proper 299995295 we do go over to our ECU identification and look at 6FK3B bravo.

Difference Between Honda HDS and i-HDS

Questions:

  • What is the main difference between the HDS and I-HDS Honda diagnostic software?
  • Should be both installed?
  • Is the i-HDS require license from Honda dealer?

 

 

Simple answer:

Honda HDS vs. I-HDS:HDS use for old car, older 2017. Use with hardware is HIM (original or clone). And I-HDS use for new car, >2017 and more, use with hardware original is DST-i of Bosch.

 

Honda I-HDS replaces HDS. To diagnose newer cars, I-HDS is required. The interface is easier to use. So you need to install HDS first and I-HDS afterwards.HDS will NOT run by itself.

HDS cannot access IMMO anymore.You would need i-HDS installed. However, you will need to be a registered locksmith and have credentials for Honda. None of this is provided, therefor will not work. You can purchase key programming device if you want to do IMMO.

The J2534 Rewrite software is meant for the North American market. The Rewrite software allows you to update powertrain modules such as PCM and TCM.

 

A subscription to the i-HDS suiteand an appropriate J2534 Pass-through device is needed. If your have a DST-i, the PCM Initialization software is included in the subscription.
NOTE: If you are trying to reprogram ECM/PCM/ECU’s or replace lost keys, the appropriate credentials and type of subscription is required.

Part 2. What is I-HDS?

I-HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) software suite for the diagnosis and repair of electronic systems on Honda and Acura automobiles, and for the reprogramming of electronic control units (including, but not limited to, ECMs and PCMs). Reprogramming with the J2534 Rewrite Application in i-HDS

 

Included in the i-HDS software suite is a new reprogramming application called J2534 Rewrite. This application is made available to all subscribers of the i-HDS software suite and replaces the previous generation software, J2534 Honda Pass-thru Reprogramming Software.

You can use other J2534 devices. Some examples of tools that you can use are Snap On, CarDaq-Plus, CarDaq-M, GM MDI and much more!

This new application is compatible with generic VCIs that comply with SAE J2534. It must be used to reprogram any Honda/Acura vehicle equipped with ECUs that support reprogramming. Refer to the table below for legacy applicability for the programming of ECMs and PCMs. Though system dependent, late-model vehicles may be equipped with other ECUs that support reprogramming as well, e.g. ABS or VSA. J2534 Rewrite must be used to reprogram these control modules, as instructed in an applicable service bulletin.

As shown in this table, not all legacy Honda/Acura models are equipped with a reprogrammable ECM/PCM. Furthermore, all 2007 and later models not listed in the table are fully supported with this application.

Orange 5 BMW FRM3 Repair Wiring Connection

Question 1:can someone help with a guide on how to restore frm3 module in bmw e91. I have a Orange5.

Question 2:I have a FRM3R E70 AHL S:6135 light model and I want to repair. I have Orange 5 programmer. But I don’t know how to read and restore eeprom from Dflash. Can anyone explain?

Question 3: I have a corrupted frm 3 and want to read the data from the frm so I can do a recovery flash. Can anyone help with the connections of FRM 3 to orange 5 programmer.

Question 4: I have connected Orange 5 with 9S12XEQ384 EEE but when I read D-Flash and P-Flash there is nothing, only in eeprom is something. How to repair light module?

Press Read ID – if connection is OK Orange show you ID and Mask

Now click Query EEE to check if Partition is damaged

First select P-Flash and click READ button and save P-Flash (!!IMPORTANT!!) to have backup
Next select D-Flash and read it (this file we need to generate Eeprom File)
Now open DFLASH to EEPROM Tool – load Dflash and generate a new Eeprom file

 

After we have a Backup of D-Flash and P-Flash we must erase the processor –Orange 5will erase the full
Processor
Click Erase button and select Erase →do not Unsecure!!!!

After the Processor is erased we have to set new Partition for Eeprom/D-Flash area.
There are two parameters that control how the
software configures the memory: DFPART and ERPART.
DFPART = Number of D-Flash sectors reserved as User D-flash (128 total)
ERPART = Number of pages reserved for EEE (16 total)
The two parameters are required to meet two size conditions to be valid:
1. (128-DFPART) / ERPART >= 8
2. (128-DFPART) >= 12 if ERPART==1
Examples:
"80 00” – Enables 128 sectors (32 KB) of D-Flash and 0 pages of EEE
"20 0C” – Enables 32 sectors (8 KB) of D-Flash and 12 pages (3 KB) of EEE
"10 0C” – Enables 16 sectors (4 KB) of D-Flash and 12 pages (3 KB) of EEE
"00 10” – Enables 0 sectors of D-Flash and 16 pages (4 KB) of EEE
Set FullPart and to DFPART 00 00 and ERPART 00 10 and click OK

After we made this we can check if partition is ok by clicking Querry EEE
now it should look like in the next picture

If partition is OK we can write new files
Select P-Flash in Orange and load your backup file to the processor
If write is done click compare button to check if write is ok
Select EEE in Orange and load your generated Eeprom file
Click write button and after write is ok click compare to check written file
NOW YOUR FRM3 SHOULD WORK AGAIN.

How to use Launch X431 to Diagnose 2017 up FCA SGW Vehicles?

Launch Scan Tools (i.eLaunch X431 V+, X431 Throttle, X431 Torque, X431 Turbo, X431 PAD V) updated 2017 and later FCA Vehicles with Secure Gateway Module (SGW): Register with AutoAuth to enable your LAUNCH scan tool to communicate with the FCA SGW Authentication System and bypass the SGM, so as to perform diagnostics and bi-directional without using a bypass cable.

 

Background:Starting in 2018, FCA US has been equipped with a Security gateway firewall that is new to the car industry. The logic behind this Gateway is to secure the vehicle’s control systems against security threats and other issues as car ecosystems become more connected and advanced. To access this Gateway your scan tool will need to be authorized by Auto Auth. There are a few steps that you will need to complete in order to gain authorization to the FCA US Gateway.

Instruction:

Step 1. sign up for a user account on autoauth.com.

If you’re an independent or mobile technician that does not work for a shop, you will be able to register your own shop once you log into your account.

Step 2.Register yourLaunch X-431 scan toolserial number

You will need to register your scan tool serial number.

 

Once you sign up with your user account, inform your shop management of your username, so they can add your profile to the shop account.

Requirements:

Please make sure you have a stable Internet connection and have updated your launch scan tool with the latest software and firmware update. As not doing this delays the diagnostic process and can prevent you from accessing the gateway.

Performs diagnostics and bi-directional without using a bypass cable:

Establish a connection with your Launch scan tool to the vehicle via auto VIN detect or the manual Chrysler configuration.

 

Tap any Special functions, the FCA will prompt you to log in to access the security gateway.

 

User authentication will be valid as long as the vehicle is keyed on an engine off and your VC I is connected to the vehicle with a stable Internet connection.
