Hand-held BMW Creator C110 OBDâ…¡code scanner is designed to troubleshot BMW vehicle from 2000 to 2012, including read DTCs, clear DTCs, display live data and clear adaptation. The new updated V3.8 software adds the active test function for BMW MINI models. Here is the example of resetting 3-serie E46 airbags/SRS light with C110.

Step-by-step instructions:

Well install Creator C110 OBD2 software
Plug the code scanner with vehicle via OBD socket
Select DIAGNOSE function form main menu

Select BMW series: 3 Series

Select the detail BMW model: 3-serie E46

Select Body control module

Pull down the drop-list and select SRS (Air bag), click OK

Select Read trouble code
The system will automatically read error code information stored in Body module, press OK

Select Erase trouble code.

The reason for the airbags light was on the dashboard. It needs to be disconnected.
Once reconnected, go back to Creator C110 BMW code reader program, select Erase trouble code again.
The system will display Trouble code is erased message.

If newest 2014.12 BMW ICOM software HDD fails to connect with your vehicle or fails to diagnose cars, you will need to run for firmware upgrade.


How to update V2014.11 BMW ICOM Firmware?

1. Connect BMW ICOM A2 diagnostic unit with computer via network cable. Power up ICOM A2 with 12 V adaptor or connect it with vehicle via OBD diagnostic socket.

2. Browse IE explorer to http://169.254.33.45:60080/, enter name: root and password: NZY1150263

3. Click "Update Firmware", ICOM firmware information will be displayed.

4. Select "ICOM-BootImage-01-13-00.bin" file, set image type to "SYSTEM". Click "Send the file"

5. When the system pops out the message "Write the image file to the flash?", click "Yes". The ICOM indicator light will turn red.

6. When the system prompts "The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successfully", click "Update Firmware" icon

7. Select "ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-18-00.bin" file, set image type to "APPLICATION", click"Send the file". The process will take a few minutes due to the file size, please wait patiently.

8. Click "Yes" when system pops out "Write the image file to the flash?" notice. ICOM A2 unit indicator light will turn red again.

9. When all settings are complete, click "reboot"

There is a growing trend among BMW owners buying car diagnostic tools to do their own auto repairs, while eBay sellers trying to sell unnecessary stuff to these owners. I used to be one of the BMW owners buying whatever the sellers to me to buy. But it is time to be wise. After using a lot of BMW diagnostic tools, I just know which are good, which are useless. Here I have compiled a list of the top three ones for every level of DIY.

1. BMW ICOM ISIS A+B+C
BMW ICOM A+B+C is an official BMW Group Service tool especially designed for diagnostics of all BMW series. It is made up of three parts: ICOM A, ICOM B and ICOM C. ICOM A is used for diagnosing vehicles with OBD capability; ICOM B is for programming with MOST port; ICOM C is for diagnosing older BMW models with diagnosis socket in engine compartment. It supports programming, troubleshooting, DTCs reading and erasing and coding in all systems.

2. iOBD2 BMW Diagnostic Tool for iPhone
iOBD2 BMW is a portable OBD2 code scanner that works together with your iPhone through WiFi or Bluetooth. This iOBD2 code scanner especially works on BMW car models. It is not as powerful and stable as BMW ICOM, but it is a lot cheaper. It allows the user to read and clear fault codes, read car data, record engine speed and ignition time in all the BMW car models with OBDII or EOBD protocol.

3. FVDI BMW ABRITES Commander
FVDI Commander for BMW and MINI may cost much more than the previous two tools, but it really worth the money. It not only has all the functions that BMW ICOM A+B+C has, but also supports car key programming and mileage programming for systems such as IKE, LCM, EWS, ECU, ABS, VTG and EGS.

I already have a BMW CarSoft scanner and recently found the INPA and EASYDIS software on a website, then I started thinking was it possible to make it work with INPA Ediabas software. After many weeks of reading, and struggling, finding sparse bits of information here and there, I have finally got INPA and EasyDIS software working and communicating with my E36, while using the CarSoft interface instead of th INPA cable. Here is my guide to help anyone else who may be as frustrated as I was trying to get this to work.

How to:

Part 1 – Make INPA work with CarSoft

- Insert the CD or mounting the image
- Go to the "<CD DRIVE>:\Referenz\INSTALL" folder
- Launch the file "Instprog.exe"
- Select Language and click Continue
- Click Continue
- Leave C:\ as destination drive, and click Continue
- Select BMW Group Recertification programs USA and click Continue
- Place check marks on the option for Complete next to EDIABAS and INPA, then click Continue
- Select OBD as interface and click Continue
- Press "End" when the installation has completed
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder "C:\Ediabas\Bin"
- Locate the file EDIABAS.INI, and open it with notepad
- Locate the line for "remotehost" and "port" adjust to "192.168.68.1" and "6801" respectively
- Save and close the file.
- Navigate to the folder "C:\EDIABAS\Hardware\OBD" and launch the file OBDSetup.exe
- A screen will appear, press any key to close it.
- Press Windows+Break to open System Properties.
- Proceed to the Advanced tab, and press the Environment Variables button:
- Find the Path system variable, highlight it and press Edit
- At the end of the path statement, add a semicolon, and the path "C:\ediabas\bin" then press OK

- Connect your CarSoft interface to the OBD port and to your computer. Open Device Manager, and make certain that your port is:
- Assigned to COM1
- FIFO buffers are enabled
- Receive and Transmit Buffers are set to 8
Note: I have found it is necessary to run CarSoft once to get the interface to work with INPA.
- Start CarSoft, and perform a diagnosis of the DDE:
When the test completes you can close CarSoft. If it fails, you need to get your communications with your interface and CarSoft working before continuing:
- Start INPA with the shortcut INPA(_.IPO)
- Try and perform a test. ( My car is an E36 328i)

Part 2 – Make EasyDIS work with CarSoft

Now that INPA K+Can is working, we can get EASYDIS to work with the same interface.
Open "Manage Virtual Networks" for VMWare and proceed to the Host Virtual Network Mapping tab:
Click the arrow beside VMnet1 and click Subnet:
Enter 192.168.68.0 for IP Address and press OK:
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to "C:\EDIABAS\Bin" and launch the file IFHSrv32.exe.
A windows does not open, it simply places an icon on your task bar:
Open VmWare, and edit your EASYDIS virtual machine to only have one Ethernet adapter, and assign it to VMnet1.
Start the EASYDIS Virtual Machine.
Click on Administration.
Under the EASYDIS item, click on Calibrating Touch-Screen.
Enter password (dealer #) and get a new window.
Enter "1" to Configure EDIABAS and press enter:
Then type "2" and press enter to run "API test" - If you see the following menu, the test is successful:
If the test was not successful, there is likely a network communication problem.
Exit the screen by typing in "0" and pressing enter. Exit the remaining screens by pressing "9" and enter.
The system will reboot.
After the system reboots, and EASYDIS comes up again, click on Diagnosis.
Select your model of car, and press the arrow to continue.
You will likely receive errors about battery power, click Ok.
After this, select manual to identify your vehicle.
Choose your vehicle and click continue.
Choose a module.

This is just for fun. If you do not have a CarSoft, you simply just buy a brand new INPA cable instead and save 20 bucks.
