Step 1: Back Up Coding

Go to Special Function- Key Programming- BMW- Select by Immobilizer- FEM/BDC I
Read key information.
This system requires Pre-processing to generate a dealer key.

Before starting the key programming process, it’s crucial to back up the vehicle’s coding. This ensures that if any coding is lost during the process, you can easily restore it.

• Go toCode Operationsand selectBackup Coding.
• Xtool provides an option to restore coding if needed, which adds an extra layer of security to the process.

Step 2: Pre-Processing FEM/BDC

The next step is to perform pre-processing on the FEM/BDC module. This step is essential for generating a dealer key and preparing the system for key programming.

• SelectPre-processing FEM/BDC.
• The BDC type supports OBD pre-processing, meaning you don’t need to connect to an external platform or disassemble the EEPROM.
• Ensure the Xtool device is connected to the internet.
• ClickYesto perform OBD pre-processing.

• Once pre-processing is completed, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Step 3: Add Key

With pre-processing complete, you can now proceed to add the new key to the vehicle.

• Go toKey Operationsand selectProgram Key.
• If the system displays a message sayingSWFL is lost, don’t worry. If the module has been successfully pre-processed via OBD, you can ignore this message. Alternatively, you can use theUpgrade FEM/BDCoption to restore the module after programming the key.
• Select a key position and chooseAdd Key.
• The maximum number of keys that can be programmed is3.

Step 4: Programming the New Key

Now it’s time to program the new key.

• Place theoriginal keyin the car’s key induction area and switch the ignition toON. This will allow the system to extract the FEM security key and ISN code.
• Next, place thenew keyin the key induction area.
• Remote control frequency is433MHz.
• Once the new key is successfully programmed, you’ll receive a confirmation message.

Recently, some customers have experienced module damage when performing add key functions onBMW G chassis BDC02usingAutel IM508orIM608.

1. Failure to strictly follow the operation guide and connection instructions– Incorrect wiring or not adhering to the step-by-step procedure can result in module or chip burnout. Please carefully read and follow the operation guide and procedure prompts.

2. Neglecting electrostatic precautions– Static electricity in the working environment can damage the module or chip. It is strongly recommended to wear an anti-static wrist strap throughout the entire process.

3. Incorrect grounding of the EEPROM PIN2– The PIN2 of the EEPROM module must be connected to the specified ground line as shown in the diagram. Using any other ground connection may result in chip damage.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to program a spare smart key for a 2023 Maserati Ghibli using the Lonsdor K518 Pro key programmer.

Tools and Equipment Needed:
– **Original smart key** (for authentication)
– **New smart key** (to be programmed)
– **Lonsdor K518 ProProgramming tool** (specific to the vehicle’s make and model)
– **FCA 12+8 gateway adapter

NOTE: add key only. K518 Pro cannot do all keys lost yet.

Step-by-Step Process

Function requires 12+8 SGW adapters. Connect gateway adapter and k518 pro device with vehicle.

Go to Immo & Remote- Maserati- Select from vehicle- Ghibli- 2016-2023

Backup immo data (obd)

Turn off ignition switch and turn on emergency lights.

Reading data in 2 minutes.
EEPROM is saved.

Select Add smart key.
Select eeprom just saved.

Turn off ignition switch and turn on emergency lights.
Keep only one smart key needed to be programmed inside car and take other keys outside car.

Press the lock key or unlock key once.
Put the key on the Start button and press the Unlock button once within 30s.

Program completed.

2024/2025 Subaru Crosstrek proximity all keys lost, what tool will do?

Autel IM608 IIconnects fine but says that it does not recognise this version of the module. Failed to read EEPROM data via OBD. Autel suggests reading eeprom of SMT by dump. But it is not able to read RH850.

Here is the clue.

IM608 does not support 2024crosstrek. The highest it supports is 2021 which should technically cover up to 2023 as its the same exact car as a 2021 but 2024 being a new body.

2023 and under we can use im608 to do reset or just generate analog key and do that way. The 2024 wasn’t even an option on the Autel.

2024- Crosstrek is currently unsupported by OBD for all keys lost by any tool.Autel and obdstar neither are capable of doing a car AKL this new yet.

A few tools can do add key ONLY, i.eOBDSTAR G3.

It’s relatively similar to Toyota smart key in general hardware architecture being based around an RH850 processor.

Smart Pro supports this platform but not AKL on Crosstrek, only Forester & Outback right now for AKL. There’s model specific passwords to read-write memory to enable OBD AKL.

If you read the RH850 directly you can probably recover enough data to emulate an existing key and add new ones but it’s a fair amount of work. Dealer method only requires replacement of smart box and steering lock now so a lot less onerous than it used to be. But then you need the dealer tool to VIN code it and a special programming code from Subaru internal support. The OBD support is being worked on, but it is slow because we need access to smart boxes from wrecked cars, and being such a new model it is rare to find sets for development.

The dealer replaces the SMT modules (Keyless Access Module) when it’s an all keys lost situation.

So if no after market option exists for the immo reset then buying new modules is your only other option.
